The YSRCP, still reeling from its shocking defeat in the 2024 elections, appears to be repeating old mistakes. Instead of reflecting on its failures, the party continues to engage in aggressive politics, the latest example being its attack on Janasena over a sensational murder case.
Vinutha Kota, a Janasena leader from Srikalahasti, and her husband were recently arrested in connection with their driver’s alleged murder. Soon after, YSRCP launched a full-blown social media campaign, calling Janasena a party that shelters criminals. Even the official YSRCP handles amplified the criticism.
However, this move seems to have backfired.
Janasena immediately responded by removing Vinutha from her position, distancing itself from the controversy. This quick disciplinary action won appreciation and shifted focus back to YSRCP’s own track record with tainted leaders.
Netizens were quick to point out the hypocrisy. Ex-MLC Anantha Babu, accused of murdering his driver, was only suspended in name. He continued attending YSRCP events and maintained proximity with Jagan. Similarly, YS Avinash Reddy, facing serious allegations in the Vivekananda Reddy murder case, not only retained party support but was re-elected as MP.
These contradictions are being highlighted widely across social media, with Janasena and TDP supporters launching a strong counter-offensive. The argument is clear, a party with multiple controversial leaders has little ground to accuse others.
