It has been over three months since the arrest of former Gannavaram MLA Vallabhaneni Vamsi. He is still held on remand, and it doesn’t look likely that he is going to come out of jail, any time soon.
In the meanwhile, YSR Congress has changed its stand on Vamsi. Earlier, Jagan said Vamsi is a glamorous leader and both Chandrababu and Lokesh envy his glamour which is why they arrested him.
But now, the tone and narrative have both changed. Former minister Perni Nani came in front of the media and tried to gain a sympathetic response to Vamsi. He pointed out that Chandrababu had earlier claimed Sr NTR and Vangaveeti Ranga, and now, he is going after Vamsi. He said the NDA government will have to pay the price if anything happens to Vamsi.
It is evident that YCP is looking to milk out the sympathy factor from this Vamsi arrest. But this is getting countered quickly and effectively by TDP social media wing.
TDP supporters on social media, the integrity of Nani and his efforts to get sympathy for Vamsi. They are using the example of former YCP MP Raghu Rama Krishna Raju to strengthen their point.
TDP activists on social media are pointing out that RRR was brutally assaulted in jail and put through custodial torture, which was sadistically enjoyed by YCP supporters them. “Now that Vamsi has been arrested, these YCP leaders are crying foul. But where were they when RRR was being put through custodial torture?”.
This has now become a very valid and understandable counter to the narrative that is being milked by YSR Congress. The custodial torture of RRR is still fresh in everyone’s mind, and it is being used effectively to repulse the narrative of YCP on Vamsi.
