Former Andhra Pradesh chief minister YS Jagan was back on his customary weekly visit to Andhra Pradesh yesterday. He went to Tenali to meet and apparently console a bunch of individuals who were recently thrashed by Andhra Pradesh Police for committing antisocial activities.
While addressing the crowds that had turned up at the event, Jagan stated “In Tenali, three Dalit and minority youths were brutally assaulted by the police without any legal basis, one a junior advocate, another a polytechnic graduate, and the third a motor mechanic. One works in Hyderabad and the other two, though not residents of Tenali, hail from Mangalagiri but were picked up by the Tenali police.”
Jagan claimed that instead of following due process, the police used violence leaving them injured, humiliated, and terrified. Bringing them to Tenali, they not only beat them on the streets but also shamed them all because they had an altercation with a civil dressed constable. What is worse is that a rowdy sheet was opened only after this incident, solely to brand them in a negative light.
Coming to the public verdict and also the expert judgement on this matter, it appears that Jagan had a few mishaps at the event.
Incidentally, two of the three individuals who are associated with this incident had already been released on bail. These individuals are Victor and Kareemullah and they were released already. But they were nowhere to be seen in Jagan’s visit which is perhaps due to the fact that they’re really rowdy sheeters and their presence could expose it.
Jagan then did something unexpected as he brought out the family members of the individuals in front of the Media. This turned out to be an expose incident as the families’ privacy was compromised as they were publicly displayed.
Then came the action from YCP activists that is hard to comprehend. While Jagan stated that he had come to console the families of the victims, YCP activists kept shouting “CM Jagan and Jai Jagan” slogans, making it look more like a political affair.
