The political scenario in Andhra Pradesh is almost entirely giants the YCP ecosystem and this got established with the recent assembly elections. And again, this got reinstated with the MLC elections that were completed just a few hours back.
For instance, there’s this one particular case of the Guntur-Krishna MLC elections that are beyond comprehension and overwhelmingly instate that the anti- Jagan wave is still very much intact in Andhra Pradesh.
Incidentally, ex MLC for this segment, Lakshman Rao who won the Guntur-Krishna MLC seat in 2017 (as a PDF MLC candidate) faced a humiliating defeat this time. The only difference here is that he earlier won at an individual capacity but in this year’s campaign, he was strengthened by the YCP camp.
Notably, Lakshman who earlier won by a huge margin of 68K votes earlier on his own in 2017 got thrashed this year as he polled just 62K votes in total. This shocking defeat is now being attributed to the anti YCP wave.
This is being seen as the only logical reason behind a candidate who won by 68K votes in 2017, getting relegated by 62K votes this time. The fact that the total votes polled by him this time is lesser than his sheer majority last term shows the kind of impact Jagan’s support had on his electoral prospect.
On the other hand, TDP which lost this seat in 2017 despite being in power has now captured this segment by a huge margin as Alapati Raju came out all guns blazing.
