Amaravati’s dream of becoming a modern and smart capital city has received a big boost. The Andhra Pradesh government has signed an MoU with the School of Planning and Architecture (SPA), Vijayawada to shape the future of the city.

School of Planning and Architecture, Vijayawada, (in short SPAV), was established on July 7, 2008 by the Ministry of Human Resource Development (MoE), Government of India, as an autonomous institution and is one of the country’s top institutes in urban planning and design with an NIRF ranking of 16th for planning and architecture.

With its team of academic experts and top architecture students from the nation, the government now has the right brains to plan Amaravati in a scientific and people-friendly way. This is an important step, because SPA is not just about classroom theory as it focuses on real solutions for real cities with a lot of exposure visits for the students.

Under this tie-up, Amaravati will see planning based on advanced technology, AI-driven systems, and research. The goal is clear by the state, which is to build a climate-friendly city with more green spaces, strong infrastructure and smooth city management. From traffic control to waste management, data and technology will guide decisions.

For Andhra Pradesh, this partnership signals that Amaravati is back on track with a world-class vision. With SPA Vijayawada on board, It is quite clear that the city of Amravati is not just being planned around by Singapore companies and other consultancies but also the city and nation’s own institutions are also taking part in the process of the development.
