Visakhapatnam MP M. Shribharath recently visited Singapore on an official study tour to explore the city-state’s tourism strategies and development models, aiming to bring similar ideas to Vizag. The visit is seen as a step toward making the coastal city a top international tourism destination.

During his trip, Shribharath focused on Sentosa Island, Singapore’s premier tourist hub, to understand how diverse attractions, international events, visitor-friendly infrastructure, and advanced healthcare make it globally popular. He also visited the Mandai Wildlife Reserve Night Safari and other attractions to learn how technology and sustainability play a key role in tourism management.

In meetings with Sentosa’s management, he discussed challenges like introducing new technologies while protecting the environment. The team shared insights from their Sensoryscape Project, a Virtual Reality initiative, highlighting the need to balance immersive experiences with ecological care.

Shribharath said lessons from Singapore, such as using AI and VR for tourism management, maintaining high safety standards, and enforcing sustainability practices like waste management and water conservation, could help elevate RK Beach, Kailasagiri, and other Vizag attractions to world-class standards. He expressed plans to host global events and boost eco-tourism in Visakhapatnam, inspired by Singapore’s success.

The MP summed up the trip, saying, “Challenges we face are different, but the inspiration remains the same: the principle that people matter…[with] their interests [being] at the center – whether in healthcare or tourism.”
