YSR Congress mouthpiece Sakshi media has the habitual tendency to speak ill about the reforms that are being enforced by the India government. They went to the degree that the event targeted Deputy CM Pawan Kalyan and his thoughtful Kunki elephant procurement to resolve the human-elephant conflict in border areas. Sakshi reported that these elephants are useless and DCM Kalyan wasted resources on the same.
However, the latest developments are suggesting that the ambitious attempt by the deputy chief minister is not going waste, and in fact, it is reaping good rewards.
To mitigate frequent human-elephant conflicts in Chittoor and Manyam Parvathipuram districts and to protect both human lives and farmers crops, the Government of Andhra Pradesh, with the support of the Government of Karnataka, brought trained Kumki elephants to the state in May.
The latest update is that upon completing Andhra Pradesh mahouts at the camp set up near Palamaneru, these Kumki elephants have now been successfully deployed to drive away wild elephants entering the Palamaneru forest division.
This marks the beginning of a crucial operation aimed at safeguarding nearby villages and agricultural lands. This was precisely what the deputy chief minister wanted in the first place, and the results are starting to show now.
While Sakshi printed out a vindictive report in this regard, it is good to note that the DCM office has clarified on the matter and reinstated the importance of this Kunki elephant project.
