Telangana CM Revanth Reddy has strongly criticised Chandrababu Naidu for allegedly trying to obstruct key irrigation projects in Telangana, especially in the Palamuru region. Addressing the issue directly, Revanth questioned Chandrababu’s approach, asking, “You are a wise leader, but is this the right way to act?”
Revanth recalled that Chandrababu himself initiated projects like Kalwakurthy during his tenure as the united Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister. He pointed out that the same leader is now trying to block the very projects he once supported, including the Palamuru–Rangareddy project and others like Nettampadu and Koilsagar.
Calling these projects vital for farmers and people in southern Telangana, Revanth urged Chandrababu not to oppose them. He specifically mentioned the Rayalaseema Lift Irrigation Scheme (Banakacharla project), warning that it poses a serious threat to Telangana’s water availability. “Palamuru is already a drought-prone region. Any further reduction in water supply will be disastrous,” he said.
Revanth also reminded that the Chandrababu family once adopted Palamuru district, but now the region is being neglected and hurt by their policies. He appealed for responsibility and empathy from Andhra Pradesh leadership, stating that Telangana’s lifelines must not be choked for political or regional gain.
He concluded by urging Chandrababu to reconsider the Banakacharla project, suggesting that cancelling it would be the more respectful and constructive step forward.
