Reports: Over 10 Killed in Stampede at TVK Vijay’s Meeting – FilmShlim

As per Tamil and national media reports, Over 10 people, including party workers and two children, are feared dead in the stampede that broke out during Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) chief Vijay’s campaign rally in Karur, Tamil Nadu on Saturday.

Several others suffered serious injuries and were rushed to hospital. A nine-year-old girl is also reportedly missing and Vijay appealed for assistance from the police.

Following the stampede, the actor was forced to stop his speech as many people fainted due to severe overcrowding. The crowd swelled in number leading to the stampede.

According to reports, several party workers and children reportedly fainted due to the pressure of the gathering. Soon Vijay had to stop his address and urge his supporters to make for emergency ambulances to reach the people in need. DMK minister Senthil Balaji and the district collector visited the hospital to assess the situation.

The party workers distributed water bottles to those suffering due to suffocation and medical teams were also rushed to provide first aid.
