It is already known that the bilateral relationship between India and United States is very volatile after the President of United States Donald Trump imposed 50% tariff on Indian imports. In this context, a very surprising report is not trending on social media and let’s have a look at the same now.

According to German publication, Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung, Trump tried four times in recent weeks to reach Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi by phone, but Modi has refused to take the calls.

According to the article, Modi is said to be “offended” after Trump called India’s economy “dead” and imposed an additional 25% tariff on Indian imports over the continued purchases of Russian oil.

As is known, Trump had already notified the elevated tariff against India, and this will come to effect from August 27. Ahead of the same, Trump reportedly tried to get in touch with Modi with the Indian Prime Minister refused to take the calls.

The Indian government has deemed Washington’s actions “unfair and unjustified” and has continued buying Russian oil. On that note, a U.S. delegation was expected to travel to India this week to negotiate a trade deal, but the visit is no longer happening in view of the prevailing situations.
