For the first time in several decades, the outright dominance of the YS family was questioned and overruled by the people of Pulivendula. This was evident in the ZPTC elections that were held in Pulivendula recently.
The fact that the Telugu Desam Party candidate won over the candidate backed by YSR Congress and campaigned by YS Avinash indicates a change in the political atmosphere.
In this context, the latest developments suggest that the situation is slowly but surely changing in Pulivendula. It is reported that several politically inclined families, who have historically been with YSR Congress and more so with the YS family, are now moving towards TDP.
Even yesterday, several families reportedly joined the TDP under the leadership of local MLA candidate BTech Ravi. Observers believe there could be more such additions in the future as the party is gaining ground in the region.
Historically, Telugu Desam was never too focused on breaking the Pulivendula fort that belonged to Jagan and his family. But the recent electoral defeat in the ZPTC election appears to have created a positive wave of momentum for TDP.
Adding to this, reports suggest that Nara Lokesh has been actively overseeing party activities in Pulivendula right from the ZPTC triumph. With multiple factors combining, it appears that TDP is steadily gaining ground in Jagan’s backyard, which has been considered a safe bet for him over the years.
However, it must be noted that Jagan is still a formidable force in Pulivendula, and breaking this barrier will be an extremely difficult task. The real test lies in whether TDP’s elevated efforts will convert into MLA and MP victories in 2029.
