During the heated election season, certain political parties use the most cunning of tactics to confuse the voters, For instance, we have new parties and individuals coming up with identical names and party symbols as some of the leading parties in the state.
In Andhra Pradesh, we have a couple of parties that are identical to Praja Rajyam and Janasena when it comes to the party names. These two duplicate parties are named Bharatiya Bahu Jana Praja Rajyam and Jai Bharat Janasena and they were in existence till recently.
However, the Election Commission has finally decided to crack down on these duplicate parties that closely resemble prominent political parties and create confusion amongst votes.
The two duplicate parties which are namely rip offs of Praja Rajyam and Janasena were nullified by the EC. They are amongst the 334 political parities that were notified and removed from the records by the EC.
In total five political parties from Andhra Pradesh and 13 parties from Telangana were removed from the records. These parties have not been in active operation since the 2019 election, and that is the reason why they were dismantled by the EC body.
This is a small portion of the larger operation by the EC as around 334 parties were dismantled by the commission, leaving a total of 2520 active political parties in the state.
