Former CM YS Jagan Mohan Reddy made surprising remarks today about his government’s record with the police force. He praised the police for being “people-friendly” during his rule and claimed that they solved public problems, even for those from opposition parties like the TDP and Janasena.
Speaking at a press meet, Jagan said, “Our police worked with pride and respect. Through reforms and the Spandana program, they helped the people efficiently.” He even claimed, “More complaints from TDP supporters were solved than those from YSRCP supporters. Even the collectors helped them.”
However, Jagan’s comments have raised eyebrows and sparked criticism on social media. Many netizens pointed out that during his rule, there were serious allegations from opposition parties like TDP and Jana Sena about the police being misused to target politicians and innocent public.
Several incidents during Jagan’s time as Chief Minister raised questions about police actions, including the controversial arrest of Dr. Sudhakar and the way the police arrested the then YCP MP Raghurama Krishnam Raju, followed by many TDP and Janasena leaders. Critics argue that instead of being “people-friendly,” the police often acted in favor of YCP.
Now, Jagan’s latest statements are being seen as an attempt to rewrite history, with many calling out the gap between his claims and the ground reality experienced by opposition supporters during his rule.
“గతంలో వైసీపీ హయాంలో పోలీసులు ఎలా ఉండేవాళ్ళంటే…అత్యుత్తమ పని తీరుతో… సంస్కరణలతో… పబ్లిక్ ఫ్రెండ్లీ గా ఉండేవాళ్ళు.”– #YsJagan pic.twitter.com/sypzkK0m7n— FilmShlim (@FilmShlimOfficial) July 16, 2025
