Former Kovur MLA and YSRCP leader Nallapureddy Prasanna Kumar Reddy’s controversial comments on TDP woman MLA Vemireddy Prashanthi Reddy have triggered widespread outrage across Andhra Pradesh. While the public expected an apology or at least some regret, Prasanna Kumar Reddy stunned everyone by defending himself boldly and showing no remorse.

In response to a police complaint filed by Prashanthi Reddy, reports initially claimed that Prasanna had gone underground. But breaking his silence, he appeared before the media and rubbished the rumours.

“Fear is not in my blood. I’m from the legacy of Nallapureddy Srinivas Reddy. I did not go into hiding, I only went to Chennai for treatment,” he claimed. Calling the reports of him hiding “laughable,” he even dared the police to arrest him.

What has truly disturbed the public, however, is his unapologetic attitude. At a time when the state is still reeling from his deeply offensive remarks about a woman MLA, many expected at least a basic show of regret. Instead, Prasanna’s unapologetic tone has only fueled further anger.

And now, adding to the outrage, it’s been four days since the incident and yet no official action has been taken against him. The fact that the victim is a woman MLA herself, and that too a fellow public representative, makes the government’s silence even more shocking.

To add to the criticism, YSRCP chief YS Jagan Mohan Reddy reportedly called Prasanna Kumar Reddy to offer support, rather than condemn his remarks. This has sparked intense backlash, with growing concern over the party leadership turning a blind eye to offensive behavior within its own ranks.
