The much anticipated news regarding the local body elections is finally here as the Andhra Pradesh election commission has intimated the state government to schedule the polls next January.

According to the latest communication from the Andhra Pradesh election commission to the Chief secretary, the government has been instructed to hold the election by January 2026.

The timing of this local body election is such that it will come a year and half after the formation of the NDA government in Andhra Pradesh. So the outcome of these local body elections could potentially dictate the public verdict on the government.

But considering the remarkable win in the Pulivendula ZPTC election recently, it is evident that the public is entirely with the alliance.

The previous Jagan government was accused of grossly misusing police power and government officials to influence local body elections during their tenure. These allegations explain why the government managed to sweep every major local body belt.

The natural expectation is that the incumbent government would not go such atrociously during the election. But nevertheless, these elections would pose a challenge to the stability of the alliance.

Considering the fact that the TDP, JSP and BJP supporters will have to work together at the ground level again, this local body polls could serve as a gelling exercise that would bring them all together.

Adding to that this local body election comes shortly after the implementation of the free RTC travel program for women and multiple successful implementations from the super six promises. So by every chance, the government should sweep the polls almost unanimously.
