There is no debating the fact that Andhra Pradesh chief minister Chandrababu Naidu is one of the most progressive and visionary politicians in the country. This was validated multiple times in the past, and one of the most significant such instances was the onboarding of the Microsoft project in late 90d which changed the face of IT sector in Hyderabad.

However, it appears that the journey of on boarding Microsoft and convincing Bill Gates was not a straightforward one for the then chief minister Chandrababu Naidu.

Chandrababu Naidu revealed that Bill Gates initially refused to meet him, and he had to play the patient waiting game in order to get what he wanted.

“30 years ago, when I wanted to meet Bill Gates, I got a ‘no’ from his office. However, I was not disappointed. If I tried again without giving up, I got a small chance. I turned it into a wonderful opportunity and explained my love for the state, my aspirations and plans to develop the state to Bill Gates through a PowerPoint presentation. This is how he got convinced and eventually onboarded.” Chandrababu said.

Babu revealed the inspirational story about his patience and perseverance which inspired Microsoft to set up its first office outside of Seattle in Hyderabad. He stated that Bill Gates was very impressed with his presentation, which eventually led to him setting up a facility in Hyderabad.

After watching this inspirational story behind “Bill Gates To Hyderabad” a few common social media folk commented that this is the kind of progressive thinking that made CBN the enigmatic CM that he is today.
