It seems London has become a favorite destination for Telugu politicians. YSR Congress president Jagan Mohan Reddy frequently visits the city, as he appears to have developed a special liking for it. Incidentally, he toured London just a couple of weeks ago.

Now, it is the turn of Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu to visit London. The CM is currently on a personal trip, taking some time off from administrative duties to spend with his family.

However, even during his personal visit, Chandrababu remains a man with purpose. He has seamlessly blended professional commitments into this trip.

According to recent reports, the other day, Chief Minister Chandrababu met with Chris Fitzgerald, International Director of Octopus Energy, in London. During the meeting, the CM invited Octopus Energy to invest in Andhra Pradesh’s renewable electricity sector. He explained the opportunities for collaboration in clean energy, smart grids, and data analytics, particularly in the electricity supply and control sectors in Amaravati and Visakhapatnam.

What makes the contrast clear is that whenever Jagan visits London, there are rarely any verified reports about his itinerary or professional engagements. In contrast, Chandrababu continues to push Andhra Pradesh’s development agenda even during his private travels.

While Jagan’s foreign trips are often seen as leisure getaways, the 75-year-old Chandrababu uses every opportunity to promote Andhra Pradesh’s interests. As one political analyst put it, “This is exactly what separates a statesman like Chandrababu from the rest.”
