Not everyone plans their political career, and Thangirala Soumya is a perfect example. She didn’t choose politics; politics chose her. But what makes her stand out is that she never let go of her personal dreams, even while serving in public office.

Soumya first stepped into politics under emotional and unexpected circumstances after the sudden passing of her father, MLA Thangirala Prabhakar Rao, in 2014. She was young, unmarried, and had no political experience, but with the support of TDP chief Chandrababu Naidu, she stepped up. She won the by-election with a huge majority and began her journey as a public representative.

Over the years, she gained a reputation for being quiet, clean, and committed. Even when she lost in 2019, she stayed loyal to the party, worked hard, and made a strong comeback in 2024 with a resounding win from the same constituency, Nandigama.

But behind her political life, Soumya held on to a personal goal, to study law. After putting her dream on hold for years, she decided it was time. With no fanfare, no political influence, she appeared for the AP LAWCET exam like any other student, and secured an impressive 739th rank.

This achievement isn’t about academic glory, it’s a reminder that personal dreams can still be pursued, no matter the path life takes you on. Soumya’s story proves that you can serve the people and still work on your own growth.
