The BRS camp, including KTR, sounded confident about winning the Jubilee Hills by election and the party led an aggressive campaign. But the result went entirely in favour of the Congress party, which won the seat with a huge margin of nearly twenty five thousand votes.
Now it was the turn of BRS working president KTR to share his first reaction on the Jubilee Hills verdict in front of the media, and here is what he had to say.
KTR pointed out that there were seven by elections in Telangana between 2014 and 2023 when the BRS was in power. He stated that the BRS won five of these seven by elections, while the then opposition party Congress could not win even a single one.
KTR said that despite the fact that Congress did not win any by election till 2023, they still went on to win the assembly election when it mattered the most. He added that this proves that an opposition party does not need to win every by election.
Through his comments, KTR tried to imply that the BRS is not overly concerned about this heavy defeat in Jubilee Hills.
However, the ground reality is entirely different. The Congress party, which could not secure even one seat in the Hyderabad urban region during the 2023 general election, now has the heart of the city in its control as Jubilee Hills is one of the most important segments.
The BRS could not even retain its own sitting seat, despite the sympathy factor, as their candidate Sunita lost by a huge margin of nearly twenty five thousand votes. Electoral observers noted that the scale of this defeat is deeply embarrassing for the BRS, as the pink party could not withstand the strength of Revanth’s Congress.
