As the Jubilee Hills by-election heats up, candidates are coming up with all sorts of creative ways to win over voters. From pressure cookers and mixers to school bags and wall clocks, everything seems to be on the gift list.
According to reports, thousands of household appliances are being purchased in bulk to distribute among voters, especially targeting women with kitchen items like cookers and mixers. Around 50,000 such products are reportedly being bought from stores across the city, ready for distribution before polling day.
While women are being lured with kitchen gifts, men are being tempted with money, liquor bottles and biryani packets. Even children aren’t being left out, with school bags and lunch boxes added to the mix. The goal seems clear, win over the whole family in one go.
Sources say the candidates have already struck deals with wholesale traders and are moving the goods into small warehouses owned by local leaders. These will then be distributed division-wise just before the election.
Though the parties claim confidence in their image and popularity, they are also leaving nothing to chance when it comes to voter influence.
Now, everyone is waiting to see whether these “cookers and liquors” will actually help anyone win, or if this election will prove that not every cooker can boil votes.
