In a major twist that has rattled the YSR Congress Party, AP police have filed cases against 113 individuals, including several key party leaders and constituency in-charges. This sudden move comes nearly three weeks after YSRCP chief YS Jagan Mohan Reddy visited Rentapalla village in the Sattenapalli constituency of Guntur district on June 18.

The visit turned tragic when a local party worker Singayya died after accidentally getting run over by Jagan’s vehicle. The incident led to significant outrage within the party and among the public. While the death itself was already under investigation, the police have now taken things a step further by registering fresh cases related to that day’s rally.

According to the FIRs, the YSRCP leaders conducted a rally without police permission, used DJ sound systems on vehicles, and caused public nuisance affecting schools and hospitals. The list of those named includes former ministers Vidadala Rajini and Ambati Rambabu, as well as ex-MLAs like Namburu Sankara Rao, Bolla Brahma Naidu, Kasu Mahesh Reddy, and Devineni Avinash.

This unexpected development has caught the party leadership off guard. Jagan is said to have personally inquired into the matter, seeking clarity on how and why such a large number of leaders are being targeted at once. YSRCP leaders from Tadepalli strongly condemned the move, calling it a politically motivated act by the ruling alliance. The party now plans to challenge the FIRs in court, terming the entire episode as an attempt to intimidate the opposition.
