Former AP CID chief Sanjay, considered a close confidant of ex-CM Jagan Mohan Reddy, has landed in serious legal trouble. Once seen as the face of political operations under the YSR Congress regime, Sanjay is now paying the price for his past actions.
During Jagan’s rule, Sanjay headed the CID at a time when the department controversially arrested Chandrababu Naidu, then the opposition leader, under questionable circumstances. Several other allegations have since piled up against him, including misuse of power within the CID and irregularities linked to the fire department.
After trying unsuccessfully to evade arrest, Sanjay approached the Supreme Court for relief. However, the Apex Court directed him to surrender before a lower court. Following this, Sanjay surrendered at the ACB Court in Vijayawada today.
The court has now sent him to remand until September 9, marking yet another major setback for a top officer once seen as Jagan’s most trusted ally in the bureaucracy.
