One of the many complaints against the previous YS Jagan regime was the non clearance of pending contractors bills. The situation was so pathetic that let alone previous bills done during TDP tenure, even the contract works done by YCP supporters after 2019 were also not cleared.
Virtually every single contractor in Andhra Pradesh suffered under the Jagan regime. This is one of the primary reasons behind the anti-incumbency against Jagan back then.
However, the new NDA government is very generous and thoughtful of this aspect. Union minister Pemmasani Chandrasekhar who is working closely with the central authorities has delivered some significant positive news to the struggling contractors.
Chandrashekhar announced that the NDA government in Andhra Pradesh in partnership with the central government is going to clear the pending bills pertaining to contractors in a span of 30 days.
“The previous Jagan government tortured contractors for five years. But our NDA government is very thoughtful of this. We are going to clear the pending ₹250 to ₹300 crore bills of contractors from 2019 timeline. The central government will be funding ₹180 crore of this clearance process. The state government will match the pending amount and clear the bills in full.” Pemmasani announced.
The union Minister pointed out that Jagan wanted to absolutely torture everyone for his pleasure, and this made the lives of contractors virtually living hell. But the new government is very attentive to this and they are coming to the rescue of the contractors.
As many as 3.5 lakh pending bills are going to be cleared under the procedure and the state government is going to oversee the process. This is some positive news to contractors, who had been going through hell since the onset of the Jagan government. Their prayers lasted for six years and are going to come to in a matter of 30 days as Pemmasani announced that the procedure would be completed in the period.
