It is a common practice in Indian politics for a notable politician to take part in flag hoisting ceremony on the occasion of Independence Day. But strangely enough, YS Jagan stood from the same on the occasion of Independence Day yesterday.
While the government representatives, including chief minister Chandrababu, Deputy CM Kalyan and others actively partook in respective events, Jagan completely avoided the same.
Generally, regardless of the position of power, be it government, or opposition, respective leaders take part in flag hoisting ceremonies. But Jagan did not pay any courtesy to this matter as there is no public image of him, hosting the flag at his residence in Bengaluru.
Back when Chandrababu was out of power between 2019 to 2024, he customarily held flag hosting ceremonies on the occasion of Independence Day every year. Even Lokesh observed it multiple times, despite the debacle in the 2019 election.
But Jagan, being the former chief minister and the President of a leading political party in Andhra Pradesh, staying away from flag hoisting ceremony has become a topic of discussion. A few social media users are even questioning whether he would hoist the Indian flag only when he is power.
