Former chief minister YS Jaganmohan Reddy finds himself in another legal mess after his car had rammed into an elderly man while he was on his way to Sattenapalli. After this video went viral on social media, Guntur Police filed a case against YS Jagan.

Coming to the nature of the case that has been filed against the former chief minister, it is a “culpable homicide” case. This case is generally filed when an accused is allegedly cited as a reason behind the death of a victim.

The BNS 105, 49 cases filed against Jagan come under this category and they attribute to culpable homicide.

If proven guilty, the accused could be getting life sentences or possibly 5-10 years in prison based on his criminal history. There is also a chance of heavy fines, along with the jail sentences.

Another crucial factor about this case is that it is a non-bailable section with pretty serious legal consequences.

Now that the Guntur police have communicated that they will be taking up this case on priority and investigate the matter, it has to be seen if Jagan would be held responsible and prosecuted correspondingly.

Public opinion differs: many believe the driver will be arrested while Jagan himself will escape blame, as he was merely a passenger. On moral grounds, the leaders in the car including Jagan should have acted humanely by taking the injured man to hospital before continuing the rally, but this did not happen.
