YSR Congress and TDP are fundamentally and ideologically opposing parties that are usually at loggerheads. But for a brief moment in the Legislative Council last evening, YCP supported a resolution presented by IT Minister Nara Lokesh.
Lokesh introduced a resolution congratulating the Centre for saving the Visakhapatnam Steel Plant from privatization. The resolution specifically applauded Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman, and Union Minister H. D. Kumaraswamy.
Following this, the Speaker asked the opposition YCP whether they agreed with the resolution. To everyone’s surprise, YCP expressed its support, and the Council Chairman announced that the resolution was unanimously approved.
This marks one of the rare occasions when TDP and YCP stood on the same page, making it an unusual sight in the council.
Ironically, YCP often spreads misinformation and fabricated narratives against TDP, alleging that they are behind the Vizag Steel Plant privatization. But when it comes to official proceedings and the NDA’s stance, YCP lowers its tone and acknowledges that privatization is not on the table.
Meanwhile, the NDA government in Andhra Pradesh has been firm in its stand against privatization. This was clearly established by Lokesh in yesterday’s session, and YCP’s approval only reinforced the same.
