The alleged fire accident at Sakshi Media’s office in Eluru has been a topic of discussion in the AP political arena since yesterday. YCP cadre conveniently blamed the TDP supporters for the act. However, it is now confirmed that the fire accident didn’t happen at Sakshi’s office, but at a furniture shop located in the same building.
Eluru DSP Shravan Kumar confirmed the same in a press conference last night. He said that there is no political involvement in the case and called it false propaganda by YCP. Speaking to the media, DSP Shravan Kumar said that a case has been registered upon the complaint received from the furniture shop owner, saying that his furniture in the godown has been burnt.
“The building that caught fire on Tuesday has two floors. While the Damro furniture shop is located on the ground floor, the Sakshi office is located on the first floor. Coming to the fire accident, some old furniture in the godown caught fire. It was extinguished within 10 minutes. There was minimal property damage, and no casualties have been reported. Especially, Sakshi’s office on the first floor is not affected by the accident at all. Therefore, there is no truth in YCP’s claims that the Sakshi office was intentionally set on fire. It is baseless and false propaganda,” clarified DSP Shravan Kumar.
DSP Shravan Kumar also clarified that the Denduluru women, who were protesting in a rally, were at least 200 metres away when the fire broke out, and by the time they arrived at the office location, the fire extinguishment process was already underway. He said that the event was also recorded in the video footage.
