History is being created in Delhi with the Bharatiya Janata Party looking set to storm to power in the nation’s capital after 27 long years. Going by the latest information furnished by the Election Commission website, BJP has crossed the magic number needed to form the government.
As we type this, BJP is leading in 40 assembly constituencies while AAP is leading in 30 seats. Congress is drawing a big blank in the election with 0 seats to its name.
Kejriwal is narrowly leading by 223 votes in New Delhi constituency and the reports are suggesting that there is a very good chance that he would lose the election as certain BJP strong belts in the constituency are coming to counting soon.
Delhi has 70 assembly seats and the magic figure is 36. By the looks of it, BJP is narrowly going ahead and forming the government, barring a miracle in the upcoming rounds. But at the same time, AAP will be hoping they put up a close fight as they’re not too far from the magic figure themselves.
But as things stand, BJP looks set to form the government in Delhi after 27 long years in what could be considered a historic election.
As for AAP, the reluctance to go solo and avoid alliance with Congress appears to be costing them. Vote share wise, AAP and Congress are likely to pull more share than BJP.
