Global IT major Cognizant Technology Solutions is set to invest ₹1,582 crore in a new IT campus in Visakhapatnam, giving a major boost to Andhra Pradesh’s growing tech sector. The upcoming facility is expected to create 8,000 jobs over the next few years.
The company has requested 21.31 acres of land at Kapulauppada under the VMRDA limits, and the Andhra Pradesh government has agreed to provide the land at a highly subsidized rate of just 99 paisa per acre.
This development is being hailed as a significant achievement for AP IT Minister Nara Lokesh, who has been actively pushing for investments and positioning Vizag as the state’s IT capital.
Cognizant plans to begin commercial operations from the new campus by March 2029. The company is funding the project completely on its own, without any external financial support—showing its strong confidence in the state’s growth potential.
With this project, Andhra Pradesh strengthens its position as a rising destination for technology companies, and Vizag continues to attract attention as a promising IT hub on India’s east coast.
