It is an infamous tradition in the Congress party to change the chief ministers at will. This has historically happened in multiple South Indian states and also north.
It appears that a similar situation is panning out even in Karnataka now as it is being established that current chief minister Siddharamaiah is facing existential crisis in his own backyard.
According to Media reports, the Congress High command is not fully happy with the senior chief minister and is looking to alter the power dynamic in Karnataka. They are reportedly, contemplating the idea of changing the chief minister and appointing some other senior leader in this position.
In this context, the recent reports from Delhi have been suggesting that Siddaramaiah was not provided with an appointment with the Congress command when he wanted to visit Delhi last week. This is generally the first indication when the Congress high command is not satisfied with the chief minister and is looking to alter the position.
Meanwhile, reports from Karnataka Media have been suggesting that Siddaramaiah camp in Congress has been calling for extended 10 year for the senior leader. On the other hand, the other faction in Congress will be looking for a power struggle of their own.
Another Congress senior leader in Karnataka is DK Shivakumar and he could potentially be a candidate for the chief minister position if at all the race goes that way.
For now, there is no official clarity from the Congress high command or the Karnataka government authorities and we have to patiently wait if Congress would actually decide to change their chief minister in Karnataka.
