It is already known that the President of the United States, Donald Trump, has taken a strong stance against the India–Russia oil trade by imposing massive tariff hikes on India. This move is expected to seriously affect trade between India and the United States, as companies will lose a significant portion of their revenue.
In this context, Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu, who is well-versed in global trade matters, shared his perspective on the issue.
Chandrababu stated that these tariffs will not stop the Indian economy from prospering and that anyone who believes India is a failing economy has no understanding of the current reality. This remark came shortly after Trump described India as a “dead economy” and expressed indifference toward the country.
“India went from being the 11th largest economy to the fourth largest. We will be the third largest economy in the world by 2028, and we will be an unstoppable force by then,” Babu said.
He further added that India’s entrepreneurial spirit and vast pool of talented youth make it one of the most promising global economies, and no kind of tariff can prevent its progress.
Babu attributed the nation’s strong and stable economy to its sound financial foundations, stating that no country can destabilize India through foreign tariffs or taxation.
With such a reassuring statement from a veteran leader like Chandrababu, it is clear that concerns over Trump’s tariffs may not be as alarming as some fear.
