At first, the YSR Congress ecosystem was extremely desperate to politicise the murder of YS Viveka. But after the finger started pointing towards YS Avinash himself, the party went on the defensive and has been trying to counter this topic for a long time.
On the occasion of Viveka’s 74th Jayanti yesterday, YCP senior leader Botsa Satyanarayana tried to make an argument in favour of YSR Congress but ended up backfiring badly. His narrative that Chandrababu was the CM during Viveka’s murder in 2019, and the reluctance to go for a CBI investigation, was countered rather quickly.
The primary argument from the YCP senior was that the Viveka murder happened during Babu’s tenure as chief minister. But in reality, the murder took place on March 15, 2019, and the election notification came out on March 18. Chandrababu immediately became interim chief minister and had very little authority over the proceedings.
As for the CBI investigation, it can be noted that the Jagan government itself submitted an affidavit to the court stating there was no need for CBI involvement in the murder case. It was Sunitha who had to fight the matter in court and finally secured CBI involvement.
While Sunitha and Sharmila are still fighting for justice for Viveka’s murder, it is strange to see YSR Congress repeatedly trying to bring up the issue for political gains. The problem for them is that such attempts have been backfiring badly, just like this latest episode with Botsa.
