A very interesting episode unfolded in the ongoing monsoon assembly session in Andhra Pradesh today as TDP MLA Bonda Uma and Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan engaged in a fiery exchange.

The debate began when Bonda Uma raised concerns about the Pollution Control Board and its functioning in the state.

“When we approach the Pollution Control Board chairman, he says instructions must come from Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan, who is the concerned minister. This department is completely non-functional and I request the DCM to bring some sense into it. We have complained against the RAMKY Group but no action has been taken so far,” Bonda Uma remarked.

Uma appeared visibly disappointed with the PCB chairman over the lack of action against alleged violations. What surprised many was that he chose to raise the issue in the Assembly, making it appear as though DCM Kalyan was at fault.

Responding swiftly, Pawan Kalyan countered Uma’s remarks. “The Pollution Control Board is largely underpowered. We have a very limited workforce in this department, and there is a need to expand human resources. Regarding Uma Garu’s comment, it isn’t true that I’m inactive in PCB matters. In fact, my first order of duty was to restructure the board and refine its operations. As for the RAMKY Group, we have already issued a show-cause notice and necessary action will follow,” he clarified.

The exchange left many in the Assembly surprised, with several suggesting that this matter could have been better resolved in private discussions instead of being aired publicly, as the debate appeared contradictory.
