Visakhapatnam is turning into a new investment hub with massive investments in Ai and other big tech development industries. On Thursday, it was announced that Vizag will be one of the landing sites for Meta’s multi-billion-dollar undersea cable project, called Waterworth. This project, spanning 50,000 km, will connect India with the US, Brazil and South Africa.

The cable is expected to land in 2030 and will bring massive data capacity to India. Along with Mumbai, Vizag has been chosen as a key location, proving its rising importance in global connectivity that supports the W style geographical pattern of India.

That’s not all, the city also received another big boost as TCS (Tata Consultancy Services) is planning to set up a 1 Gigawatt Data Center in Visakhapatnam. Representatives from TCS met CM Chandrababu Naidu at the Secretariat and discussed the proposal.

Speaking on the occasion, CM Chandrababu Naidu said, “Vizag is Andhra Pradesh’s future capital for technology and innovation. With projects like TCS Data Center, Meta’s undersea cable, and Google’s Data Centre, Vizag will soon be among the top global digital hubs. We will extend full support to these investments and ensure world-class infrastructure.”

Minister Nara Lokesh also welcomed the announcement, saying, “This is a huge opportunity for Andhra Pradesh. Happy to see today that Meta is planning to bring its subsea cable project ‘waterworth’ to #Vizag. This will further establish Vizag as India’s AI city and data city.”

Adding further momentum, TVS Industrial & Logistics Parks announced that it will build a Grade-A Industrial and Logistics Park in Vizag. Spread across 17 acres with a built-up area of 4.2 lakh sq ft, this project will bring an investment of ₹250 crore.

With these developments, Vizag is fast emerging as the technology capital of Andhra Pradesh, opening doors to new jobs, innovation and global recognition.
