PVN Madhav, the newly appointed president of the BJP in Andhra Pradesh, has made headlines with a strong and unexpected comment in his very first speech.
After being appointed a week ago, Madhav officially took charge on Wednesday at the party office in Vijayawada. Before stepping into his new role, he led a huge rally and later visited the statue of poet Viswanatha Satyanarayana to pay his respects.
However, it was his next move that sparked a debate. Madhav questioned why a busy junction in Vijayawada is still named “Lenin Centre.” He asked what connection the Russian leader Lenin had with India and demanded that the name be changed immediately.
His comment quickly became controversial. Leaders from Communist parties strongly opposed his view, saying Lenin was a global revolutionary who inspired change and had a historical impact worldwide. They argued that only those who don’t know about Lenin’s ideas would make such remarks.
This is not the first time BJP leaders have raised similar demands. In the past, former BJP state president Somu Veerraju also asked for the removal of Jinnah Tower in Guntur, which led to protests and political tension.
With just one speech, Madhav has already stirred a debate in Andhra Pradesh politics. It seems he is ready to make bold moves as he begins his leadership journey.
