Union Home Minister Amit Shah, one of the most influential leaders in Indian politics today, has surprised many with his recent comments about retirement. Shah, who is 60 years old, has been a key figure in Indian politics for decades, especially after working closely with Prime Minister Narendra Modi both in Gujarat and at the national level.

There has long been talk within the BJP that Amit Shah would be the natural choice to become Prime Minister after Modi retires at the age of 75. Many believed that Shah, known for his sharp political mind and organizational skills, was being groomed for that top role.

However, putting an end to all such speculation, Shah has made it clear that he doesn’t plan to remain in politics for much longer. In a recent interaction with women from cooperative societies, Shah openly spoke about his future plans, saying he would soon step away from active politics.

He revealed that post-retirement, he wants to dedicate his time to reading ancient Indian scriptures like the Vedas and Upanishads. Alongside that, he is also interested in practicing and promoting natural farming.

Shah’s journey in politics began with the RSS and student politics through ABVP. Originally from Ahmedabad, Gujarat, he worked closely with Narendra Modi during the early years of BJP’s rise in the state. Over the past 30 years, he has held various key roles, including as Gujarat’s Home Minister and now as Union Home Minister.

His announcement comes as a surprise to many, given the widespread belief that he would be a contender for the Prime Minister’s post in the future. Instead, Shah seems to be choosing a more peaceful and spiritual path beyond public life.
