Hyderabad is preparing for a crucial civil defence mock drill scheduled for 4 PM today, and related arrangements are already underway. The drill will take place from 4 PM to 4:30 PM within the Outer Ring Road (ORR) limits and will involve 12 Civil Defence services, including the police, fire, rescue, medical, and municipal departments.
Exactly at 4 PM, air sirens across the city will be activated at full volume to simulate an airstrike-like situation.
The drill will mimic a war-like scenario and is a precautionary measure to prepare the public for a potential emergency in light of the current tense situation between India and Pakistan.
The public is expected to cooperate with the mock drill by staying indoors and turning off gas connections. Citizens are advised to act as they would in a real war situation—seeking immediate shelter and cooperating with security forces.
This is the first nationwide mock drill of its kind in the last four decades, and it is considered a significant and strategic preparedness activity.
Authorities have urged the public to rely only on official communications and not to fall for unverified information on social media. People are reminded that this is just a drill, and it will be conducted in a well-coordinated manner by the concerned departments.
