A disturbing incident in Tuni, Andhra Pradesh, has drawn public attention after an elderly man, Narayana Rao, was caught allegedly trying to assault a minor schoolgirl.
He was filmed in an orchard with the girl by a passerby, and the video quickly went viral. In the video, Narayana Rao claimed he was a Municipal Councillor and tried to threaten the person recording. Reports say he may have previously harassed the same girl by intimidating her.
Following the video, police arrested him under the POCSO Act. However, within hours of his arrest, a major twist occurred. Police said that while being taken at night, Narayana Rao asked for a bathroom break and suddenly jumped into Komati Cheruvu (a nearby lake), dying by suicide.
His body was recovered the next morning. His family has raised doubts about the police version and alleged foul play. The body has been sent for post-mortem, and an investigation is ongoing.
