In the world of social media politics, one of the more notable incidents in the ongoing political rivalry between YSR Congress and Telugu Desam Party is the case of Ippala Ravindra Reddy. Ravindra Reddy, a man previously known for his controversial posts against Nara Lokesh’s family, particularly targeting his mother and wife, found himself in the spotlight once again. His comments back in 2017 led to his arrest, but what surprised many was his recent meeting with Nara Lokesh, which raised eyebrows among TDP supporters.
This meeting became a point of contention because Ravindra Reddy, who had affiliations with the YSR Congress, had made disparaging remarks about the TDP leadership’s personal lives. At the time of the meeting, he was representing Cisco in its skill development programs in Andhra Pradesh, a partnership that involved the state government. TDP supporters were dismayed to see a man with such a controversial history meeting Lokesh, leading to public outcry.
In response to this, Nara Lokesh took swift action and wrote to Cisco to request Ravindra Reddy’s removal from the AP delegation. Cisco complied, and Ravindra Reddy was removed from his position, ending the controversy for the time being.
However, this incident has sparked a debate within the TDP ecosystem. Some TDP supporters and intellectuals have pointed out that while Lokesh took appropriate steps by addressing the issue with Cisco, the party missed an opportunity to take stronger action. They believe that instead of just removing Ravindra Reddy from the AP delegation, TDP could have made the issue public by highlighting the personal abuses Reddy had posted on social media.
On the other hand, supporters of the TDP argue that the party’s soft nature and actions were in line with its principles, preferring to address the matter diplomatically rather than escalating it further.
The debate continues, with some commenting that the political environment under the YSR Congress is more aggressive in dealing with such issues, while the TDP tends to adhere to a more principled approach, even when faced with challenges.
