Rishab Shetty’s Kantara is a big blockbuster in Kannada. The film which was dubbed to Telugu also opened to a big success, bringing pan-Indian fame to the actor-director. The film’s prequel, titled Kantara: Chapter 1 is now gearing up for a grand release on October 2nd, with a pre-release event happening this evening. Meanwhile, the makers are awaiting a hike in ticket prices in the Telugu states.
Mythri Movie Makers grabbed the rights for the film in Nizam region. The production house plans to apply for the ticket rate hikes to take the festival advantage along with the craze that the film already enjoys. With the film’s first part already becoming a hit among rural areas and family audiences, it will be benificial if the ticket price hike gets approved. However, the question is will it get approved?
Recently, when the ticket price hike was granted for OG, the cinematography minister later stated that the GO was passed without his notice and he clarified that there will not be further rise in ticket prices in Telangana as the government feel that it is going to burden the citizens. Even the Telangana HC reserved the government’s order of hiking ticket prices. In such a complicated scenario, it is a situation of dilemma.
On a realistic note, the audiences may definitely step back looking at the hikes and it is advisable to promote the film aggressively and make the film affordable for the audiences in the situation where it has become tough to bring audiences to theatres.
However, the advance sales began all over the globe except for the Telugu states. We may get further clarity on this, after the film’s pre-release event today.
