Since yesterday, there have been several rumours circulating in the media reporting the death of veteran Bollywood actor Dharmendra. During the early hours of Tuesday, these reports spread rapidly across the internet, alarming Dharam Paji’s fans and admirers. Eventually, his wife, Hema Malini and daughter, Esha Deol, had to come out and refute all rumours. They said that Dharmendra is stable and recovering.
Last night, Hema Malini took to social media and wrote, “Thank everyone for their concern about Dharam ji, who is in hospital for observation. He is being continuously monitored, and we are all with him. I request you all to pray for his welfare and speedy recovery.”
However, that statement didn’t stop North Indian media from circulating rumours. Since early morning, many news channels including national media have been reporting that Dharamendra has passed away. Again, Hema Malini and her daughter Esha Deol had to come out to quash all reports.
“What is happening is unforgivable! How can responsible channels spread false news about a person who is responding to treatment and is recovering? This is being extremely disrespectful and irresponsible. Please give due respect to the family and its need for privacy,” wrote Hema Malini.
On the other side, Esha Deol wrote, “The media seems to be in overdrive and spreading false news. My father is stable and recovering. We request that everyone give our family privacy. Thank you for the prayers for papa’s speedy recovery.”
Dharmendra has been hospitalised after he complained of breathlessness. According to reports, he was admitted over a week ago, but the news was not made public until yesterday. It is heard that the actor has been put under ventilator support at the Breach Candy Hospital in Mumbai.
Dharmendra is one of the legendary actors in the Hindi film industry, known for his mass appeal. He is known for films like Sholay, Dream Girl, Mera Gaon Mera Desh, Dharam Veer, and Chupke Chupke. He was last seen in Shahid Kapoor and Kriti Sanon’s Teri Baaton Mein Aisa Uljha Jiya. His upcoming release is Ikkis, which stars Amitabh Bachchan’s grandson Agastya Nanda in the lead role. It is slated for release on December 25.
