Superstar Rajinikanth and director Lokesh Kanagaraj’s upcoming film “Coolie” is one of the most anticipated releases in Indian cinema this year. This star-studded action thriller is set for a grand release on August 14.
Meanwhile, Lokesh revealed in a recent interview that he initially narrated a different script to Rajinikanth, in which Rajini was set to play the main antagonist. However, he decided to drop it as that movie required a massive time for production.
“The first script which I wrote for Rajini sir was a fantasy film. He was the main villain in the film. I was searching for the hero. Rajini sir also agreed to do it. It was I who decided not to do it after realising that it was going to take at least 1.5-2 years of production.
That was a fantasy script which required huge VFX and many artists. I didn’t want to waste Rajini sir’s prime time. Also, I was going through some personal issues at that time, which I would not like to discuss,” Lokesh stated.
“So, I went to Rajinikanth sir and told him that this is not the right time to do that story and pitched about Coolie’s idea. That’s how Coolie happened,” he added.
After Lokesh’s statements, anticipation increased among fans to see him make that film with Rajinikanth as well, especially since Lokesh is known for powerfully portraying antagonists. We’ve already seen the impact created by the Rolex cameo in Vikram.
Watching Rajinikanth in a negative role would be both refreshing and highly exciting for the audience. It would also create immense buzz across the country. So, we have to see whether Lokesh will bring that dream project to life in the near future.
