The Independence Day weekend witnessed the release of two films, namely, War 2 and Coolie. Both films opened to mixed reviews. While War 2 is heading towards a flop, Coolie is having a decent run at the box office. With the first weekend coming to an end, we have both films still running in theatres.
Despite mixed talk, Coolie managed to pass the 1st weekend with good numbers, whereas War 2 failed miserably. War 2 managed to do well in Hindi, but the Telugu version completely failed at the ticket windows. Now, with no other major release on the horizon, both the films can have a decent run at theatres. But the word of mouth is going to be crucial here.
Interestingly, the week ahead is tough for the two films. Coolie needs to show the signs of strength and hold strong until the weekend. The breakeven mark is yet to be achieved. The chances of recovery for War 2 are almost impossible. Coolie definitely has an upper hand over War 2 in Telugu from the time pre-sales began, but we have to see to what extent Coolie manages to survive.
The worldwide gross of Coolie so far is around 385 Cr rupees while War 2 posted 260 Cr rupees gross respectively.
