Ever since its teaser dropped, Sudheer Babu and Sonakshi Sinha’s upcoming film Jatadhara has become a center for speculation. The crux of the discussion is a tantalizing question- is the story modeled on the 2018 Padmanabhaswamy Temple case in Kerala?
The real-life temple is fabled for its sealed vaults, immeasurable hidden wealth, and eerie stories of disasters linked to attempts at opening its forbidden doors. These elements have filled generations with awe and fear. The sixth door, in particular, is wrapped in chilling conspiracy theories, including paranormal warnings of catastrophic outcomes if opened.
From what has been revealed, Jatadhara is less a biopic of temple incidents and more a spiritual-mythological thriller that uses those legends as a springboard. By weaving together devotion, the lure of untold riches, and the eternal battle of good overpowering evil, the filmmakers have created a stage that feels influenced by reality yet fully steeped in supernatural imagination.
Directed by Venkat Kalyan and produced by Zee Studios, in association with Prerna Arora, Jatadhara is scheduled for its release on November 7th in Hindi and Telugu.
