Dhanush and Nagarjuna starrer Kuberaa directed by Sekhar Kammula made good impression with its songs and other promos. The glimpses in particular received superb response. Meanwhile, the team attended a promotional event in Mumbai.

Dhanush revealed that he essayed the character of a beggar in the movie. “This character is unlike anything I’ve done before. Sekhar Kammula didn’t just direct me, he taught me. He showed me what to do, how to feel, how to live the part. The man is so grounded, so clean, and hearted.

When he narrated the story to me, it took all of 20 minutes. I could see his honesty shining through, and I said yes without thinking twice. One shoot day stands out is Rashmika and I were in a dump yard, filming for nearly seven hours. She looked at me after and said, ‘I just can’t smell anything.’ That’s how raw the experience was.

Nagarjuna said: “Since my first film Shiva, the audience has supported me, and even my dubbed films have been welcomed with love. But this one, it came at the perfect time. I was in a place where I didn’t want to play the same kinds of roles anymore. Sekhar Kammula is a director I’ve wanted to collaborate with for over 15 years and finally came to me. And when he asked, I didn’t need the full pitch. I said yes instantly.

Sekhar’s storytelling is heartfelt, and his purity as a person reflects in his work. The film has an amazing cast. Rashmika is a powerhouse performer. She’s spontaneous, hilarious, and so natural. And Dhanush, what a performer. He completely disappears into his character. You never know what he was the day before or what he’ll become tomorrow.”

The team is planning much bigger promotional campaigning in the coming days, as the release date is fast approaching
