Malayalam cinema witnessed a lot of controversies over the years. In the recent past, a report submitted by the Justice Hema committee exposed a lot of discrepancies, discrimination, and the dark side of the film industry functioning.
Soon after the report came out, 25 cases have been filed and a special investigation team was formed to probe the cases. Cut to reality now, the SIT informed the Kerala HC that they are dropping all the cases with no victim coming forward to testify.
No victim in all the cases came forward to record their statement officially, leaving the special investigation team to submit their closure report to the High court. Based on this new report, the High court also stated that no further action was required in the crimes registered by the agency for now.
Additionally, the court also noted that the state government has scheduled a Film Conclave to be held in the first week of August 2025, for which the petitions be listed on August 13th.
Back in the years, the government of Kerala formed the Justice Hema committee after the 2017 assault case on a female star in Malayalam film industry. The report was made public in 2024, causing a heavy uproar in the film industry.
