Pradeep Ranganathan, who scored consecutive hits with youthful entertainers Love Today and Dragon, is now arriving with his new outing, Dude. Directed by Keerthiswaran, this movie features Mamitha Baiju as the female lead. Bankrolled by Mythri Movie Makers, Dude is gearing up for a Diwali release on October 17. Ahead of the release, the makers unveiled the theatrical trailer of the film this morning.
Going by the trailer, Dude looks like yet another romantic comedy from Pradeep, but with a strong emotional core, which wasn’t revealed completely in the trailer. The trailer opens with Pradeep’s voiceover saying, “If you deal life with a bad hand, life will deal you with the right hand.” This line might sum up the crux of the film.
Then, we get introduced to Mamitha as Pradeep’s love interest. Everything goes well between them until Mamitha says no to marriage and dumps Pradeep. How things unfold later and what’s the role of another lead actress (Neha Shetty) in this romantic drama might form the major proceedings of the film.
The dialogues are good and will appeal to Gen-Z audiences. Lines like “Pakkodi feelings ni cringe ga chudadame kada ippudu trend,” and “Thali meeda maryada ledu. Dani venakala unna ammayi feelings meede maryada,” grab viewers’ attention. Director Keerthiswaran revealed in an interview that the thali plays a major role in the film’s story, and the thali dialogue in the trailer hints at the same. The background score is apt, and the visuals look rich. Unlike his first two films, it looks like Pradeep also unleashed his action avatar in the film.
On the whole, the trailer delivers the entertaining, romantic and massy part of the film but keeps the core emotional crux secretive. To know that crux, we have to watch the film in theatres.
R. Sarath Kumar, Hridhu Haroon, Rohini, Aishwarya Sharma, Dravid Selvam, and others play key roles in Dude. Sai Abhyankar composed the music for it.
