It’s official. Tollywood macho hunk Prabhas’ first-ever romantic horror comedy, The Raja Saab, is confirmed for its theatrical release on January 9, 2026, as a Sankranthi festive treat. One of the film’s producers, TG Viswa Prasad, made this much-awaited announcement earlier today.

The Raja Saab was initially scheduled for release on December 5, 2025. However, the delay in the VFX work followed by the recent film workers strike resulted in the inevitable postponement of The Raja Saab’s theatrical release. Needless to say, Prabhas fans and trade circles are unhappy with this change in the film’s release plans.

Leaving a solo release date (Dec 5) and opting for a big box office clash during the Sankranthi festive season could majorly impact The Raja Saab’s box office prospects. The Raja Saab will lock horns with notable Telugu Sankranthi releases such as Megastar Chiranjeevi’s Mana Shankar Vara Prasad Garu, Ravi Teja 77, and Naveen Polishetty’s Anaganaga Oka Raju.

The Raja Saab also faces tough competition from the Tamil biggies, Vijay’s Jana Nayagan and Amaran hero Sivakarthikeyan’s Parasakthi. While the Prabhas-starrer may have some advantage in the twin Telugu states and overseas, it will have to brave Vijay’s last movie, Jana Nayagan, in Tamil Nadu and Kerala.

With The Raja Saab being a content-oriented genre film, all it needs is unanimous positive talk to attract fans and family audiences in large numbers. Will Prabhas and The Raja Saab pull off this herculean task? All eyes will be on the big Sankranthi clash.
