Tollywood’s top banner, Sri Venkateshwara Creations, spearheaded by Dil Raju and Bollywood’s top production house, Yash Raj Films, headed by Aditya Chopra, had an uncanny resemblance to fate this year. While one of their films went on to become a massive blockbuster, the other ended up as a huge disaster.

Dil Raju came up with two releases this year, Game Changer and Sankranthiki Vasthunnam. Game Changer, starring Ram Charan, was a high-budget political action drama directed by Shankar. Raju invested a huge amount of money on this film. However, it turned out to be a huge disaster, pushing him into losses.

However, the damage done by Game Changer was mostly covered by Sankranthiki Vasthnnam, which was released just three days after the former film. Made on a modest budget, Sankranthiki Vasthunam proved to be a true festive entertainer and emerged as the biggest regional hit in Telugu cinema by earning around Rs. 300 crores.

Aditya Chopra also had a slightly similar story. He came up with Saiyaara in July. Starring newcomers in lead roles, this musical drama arrived in theatres with no expectations but went on to become a big blockbuster at the box office, earning more than Rs. 500 crores at the box office.

In less than a month of its release, YRF came up with its high-budget spy film, War 2. Though it features two biggest stars in the form of Hrithik Roshan and Jr NTR, War 2 failed to impress the audience and is heading towards becoming a major loss venture for YRF. While Saiyaara brought double and triple profits, War 2 is giving the same amount of losses to the banner.
