In Telugu cinema, bringing two big stars together on screen has always been a rare and complicated task. The balance of egos, box office equations, and massive budgets make such combinations almost impossible.
Rajamouli managed it with RRR, uniting Jr NTR and Ram Charan, but outside of that, full-length multistarrers remain a dream. Even legendary pairs like Chiranjeevi and Pawan Kalyan or Balakrishna and Jr NTR never shared a complete film despite decades of careers.
In Malayalam cinema, however, things work differently. The industry’s top stars often come together without much fuss. A perfect example is Mammootty and Mohanlal, who recently wrapped up shooting for Patriot, a big project featuring Nayanthara, Fahadh Faasil, Kunchacko Boban, Revathi, and others.
Directed by Mahesh Narayanan, it is set against the backdrop of patriotism and betrayal. The teaser has recieved mixed response.
Mohanlal and Mammootty share one of the strongest bonds in Indian cinema, both on and off screen. Over the decades, they have acted together in several memorable films which became big hits not only in Malayalam but also in Telugu and Tamil dubbed versions.
Unlike the rivalry often seen among top stars in other industries, their friendship has remained warm and genuine, making their multistarrers a celebration for Malayalam audiences.
Mohanlal, in particular, continues to amaze with his unstoppable energy. Even after crossing sixty, he manages to deliver four to five films within a single year. From family dramas like Thudarum to massive pan-India outings like L2: Empuraan, he switches between genres with ease. His pace and consistency prove why he remains one of the most dynamic stars in Indian cinema today.
